In his last two starts, Marcum allowed 10 earned runs in 11 2-3 innings. RHP Shaun Marcum is scheduled to start for the Brewers on Tuesday. He is 5-0 with a 3.57 ERA in his last nine starts. NOTES: Cubs RHP Randy Wells is Tuesday’s scheduled starter. It was Narveson’s first start since allowing six runs and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings during a 7-2 loss to Philadelphia on Sept. Carlos Pena led off with a walk and Soto cleared the bleachers in left field for his 16th homer. went deep in the third for his first homer since joining the Brewers on July 30. He allowed three runs, two earned, and four hits.ĭespite sweeping Cincinnati over the weekend, the Brewers have lost seven of their last 12 games. Narveson was pulled for a pinch hitter in the fifth inning. With runners on first and second and one out, Marmol struck out Taylor Green and Corey Hart to end the game. 7-9 in each the higher seed will host all games. Marmol provided some drama by giving up a solo homer to Casey McGehee and allowing consecutive singles to Mark Kotsay and Lucroy. This year’s MLB postseason begins with best-of-three Wild Card Series from Oct. Jeff Samardzija and Sean Marshall combined for two scoreless innings before the Cubs went to closer Carlos Marmol for the ninth. “It’s been a learning year for me, have a good outing and I would get too comfortable sometimes and the next outing three innings and you’re out of the game,” Coleman said, “so tonight I was taking it inning by inning, out by out, and they played good defense behind me and that’s the way it’s got to be.” The right-hander was 0-5 with a 7.98 ERA in his previous 10 appearances. Like I said, I was just trying to be consistent and put together good at-bats.”Ĭubs starter Casey Coleman (3-8) had a career-high eight strikeouts in six inning, yielding one run and two hits. “I got a lot of opportunities against the division. “I heard about that, but I think it’s maybe because we play against them so much,” he said. OK not really but listening to Daron Sutton makes me cringe when I tune into them on MLB Extra Innings.Soto has three career multihomer games, each coming against the Brewers. It brings being a fan to a whole new level.īecause they had the 2nd highest payroll in baseball and their owner whined about the Yankees buying players.Įven though they left Milwaukee 15 years before I was born, any team that leaves Milwaukee ranks high on the hate list. I would much rather root for a team that develops players like Braun, Weeks or Gallardo than a team that buys Teixeira, CC or Burnett. I love the Brewers additionally because of the necessity to develop and bring homegrown players to the Bigs. I was born into loving the Brewers because of family and it would be just as logical for me to root for the Dodgers or Angels being born in California, but have the connection to the Brewers through my dad's rooting interest. Plus for as long as I can remember they have had players that are very easy to dislike (see McGwire, Edmonds, Pujols, Carpenter, Rolen, Molina)įor the obvious argument of buying players but more so because I'd guesstimate that 75% of their fans have no real connection to New York or the team itself. I've never liked them and it may be rooted in the World Series defeat, just like the hate for the Broncos in the NFL, but the arrogance of the team and double standard of baseball "rules" astounds me. Why is there no hate for the Twins? With the Packer-Viking and Badger-Gopher rivalry being so intense, i find the lack of hate for the Twins peculiar. I do not remember there being such White Sox hate when the Brewers were in the AL.Īdditionally to the Cub question, I pose another question to you Brewer fans. I get the Chicago hate on a lot of levels but would love the Brewer fan perspective of Chicago hate and more specifically Cub hate. Additionally, I didn't have the disdain for all things Chicago like it seems a majority of Wisconsin-born, my relatives included, Brewers fans do. I know that may sound sacreligious, but as a California-born Brewer fan who spent his youth rooting for the Brewers and because they were in the AL I was indifferent to the Cubs because they were in the NL. Now before I get to my list, let me preface my list. Now I have a list of hated teams which I will propose to you and the reasons behind the hate, but I am curious to see your reasons for hatred. My random thought today is "hatred" for opposing teams from other Brewer fans (hatred in quotes because sports hate is not real hate). Typically I have random thoughts on a Brewer off day and today was no different.
